HistoryKam Cares Foundation

Kam Cares Foundation was founded in 2012 by Kam Chancellor of the Seattle Seahawks.  A native of Norfolk, Virginia, Kam Chancellor is a product of Park Place, one of the city’s toughest neighborhoods.  His humble beginnings—sharing a small apartment with his mother and five siblings—sparked his interest in giving back to the community.  Quickly recognizing his role as one of Park Place’s top success stories, Kam established Kam Cares Foundation after only two seasons in the NFL.

Since its inception, Kam Cares has touched more than 5,000 children through services, donations, and mentorship.  Kam is known for his impact on and off the field, and endeavors to use his platform to ensure that kids from his former stomping ground have access to opportunities that will help them to reach their full potential despite their current environment.  His story is a reminder to students of similar backgrounds that the possibilities for success are endless.

“I believe we were all put on this earth for a reason, and I know that God has a greater purpose for me beyond the football field.  Through my foundation, I am walking in that purpose.  Kam Cares Foundation was established to give young people from underserved communities hope that that they, too, can achieve the seemingly impossible with hard work, dedication, faith in God; but more importantly, a willingness to pay those gifts forward.  That is the only way we truly make an impact.” - Kam
